Fathers Day 2007

Darren recieved a new Ferrari to add to his growing collection, this one requires a bit of assembly!
A friendly arm wrestling contest. And the winner was Da---Ben! He is very strong he works out with free weights!
The boys were playing in the music room and I was taking their pictures, Darren was watching T.V. so I thought I was safe. I was messing around with Ben's mic. He took this picture after he informed Darren to come see.

Spring Showers

The saying "In like a lamb out like a lion" seems to be holding true here in summerville.About 1:00pm the clouds got dark and heavy and it began to rain.
Around 2:00pm Nick decided to see if he could capture the sights and sounds on DVD.
This is our driveway looking from the partially opened pedestrian door from the garage. when the storms came through it cooled down about 10 degrees. The showers continued until about 5:00pm.

House Help

When you have house dogs it can be an impossible task to keep the hair under control. We are really not house pet people. We just happenend to fall in love with the Cavalier King Charles breed. They are not outside dogs. They like to go outside a few times a day as long as it is not too wet, hot, cold or windy. Meet our new friend Hairry, he is going to sweep and vacumme the main floor everyday! He is an Irobot by Roomba. We purchased him at Costco!

I'll bet if there were a vacumme cleaner that were designed to look like a sports car (say a ferrari) the boys in the household would be fighting over who got to vacumme first!

Thats not to say my boys don't vacumme, they do and I am grateful. I just know it would be much more fun if.....

Second named storm of the season-Barry

This morning we awoke to the sound of rain!!!!!! We are grateful that Barry is bringing the much needed rain to the south. No wind yet, just rain:) Barry formed yesterday(fri June 1st) the first day of Hurricane season. It is 85 miles away from land in the Gulf of Mexico. There are warnings along the coast in Florida today. Barry is a Tropical storm with winds up to 50 miles as of 1200am. If you are interested in tracking the storm go to Live5news.com.

Yep.....another day at the beach...go figure

Darren went in the water first and came back, he forgot to take off his sunglasses. He told everyone that the water was freezing. They believed him for half a second and then started laughing at him......it was 75-78 degrees and they surfed for 2 1/2hrs. They would have stayed in longer but I was running out of beach as the tide was coming in and the sun was setting! We would love to put your picture here, when are you coming?

Aaron couldn't believe how warm the water was, he said "why didn't we move here sooner?"

First Named Storm of The Season

Andrea helped pick up the surf here in South Carolina. The current was very strong though and the wind was constant.
This is the guys walking back after being carried south towards the IOP Pier thursday evening. The air temp was 83 degrees, the wind was a bit cooler but not bad. Andrea was a sub-tropical storm with sustained winds at 45 mph. She stayed off shore along the Carolina coast.
The waves were bigger then this out farther, I just did not get any good shots of them because the current carried them so far away. I was also on gear duty since the beach was a bit busier than usual. We are planning on visiting the beach a lot next week so maybe I will get a few good pictures!

Quote for the Day

I found this while reading IF LIFE WERE EASY IT WOULDN'T BE HARD by Sheri Dew.

"When the surf of the centuries has made the great pyramids so much sand, the everlasting family will still be standing, because it is a celestial institution, formed outside telestial time"

Elder Neal A Maxwell (Ensign, May 1978, 10-12)

May Day in South Carolina

Here in South Carolina we go to the beach on May Day! Nick is waxing up his board.
It has been over 2 years since Ben last was in the water. His first word's "Wow this water is warm" He was the last one out of the water.

The waves were super small, the weather was perfect though so why not go have some fun at the beach! We were at Isle of Palms, 25th street.

Getting Ready For the Hurricane Season

This Morning the boys went and helped a family they Home Teach get there gutters cleaned out. When they returned Darren and Ben got up on our roof and cleaned off the roof, the gutters and washed the sky light!
All the pollen is gone now and with a clean sky light I can tell if it is clear or overcast in the morning:)
The pine tree in the background is over 50ft tall. Ben is standing on the roof on the front of the house.

New pedestrian Gate

Darren and the boys installed the fencing and pedestrian gate on Friday. The front entrance is coming together. We have been blessed with healthy plants that have survived our stupidity when it comes to horticulture!

Ben buys a car!

Ben needed a car to drive and so we went out after dinner to look and see what was available. After visiting a few car lots we ended up at Saturn on Rivers ave. Ben liked his Saturn and was willing to look at those again.
Turns out after test driving a L 300 4 door that he was O.K. with, and they were about to go make a deal. I (mom) found an ION for a little less that had less miles. The only catch was it is a 5 speed manual. Ben fell in love with it and said, " no problem I can learn to drive it." Darren drove a hard deal, Saturn accepted the offer and we are the co-owners of an 2003 ION. It is in very good condition, Darren said the engine is very clean. I am sure he will love his new/used Saturn!
