Thursday Update (Last one for January)

I am going to start todays update with a little blurb on our Dinner last night. Darren was in the kitchen again and he did a fantastic job! We were treated to Steak and Lobster with a homemade tomato soup with succotash. I have never eaten succotash that I can remember and I am not sure why because it was delish!

I have mainly been working on my New Beginnings projects this week and they are coming along.
Here are a few pictures.

These are the Buttons that will go on the flowers that I am making to adorn the girl's bags to hold their New Personal Progress Books, Journals & Calender.

Lots of pink circles...

All cut and pressed ready to be sewn.

And last of all a picture of me wearing my finished skirt. I found the shoes at KRS for $5.00 not to shabby wouldn't you say? Well until next week Happy creating to you all!!

New Beginnings projects

I have been working on some projects for our up coming Young Women's New Beginnings.
We are going to be holding a Brunch this year. I volunteered to make the invitations and a calender for the year. I used one of Erika's wonderful free digital kits over at Steadfast and immovable to create the backgrounds of the calenders.

I used the Stampin' Up eyelet punch to decorate the lower edge of the Cranberry cardstock.
I also used a line art flower stamp to soften the black and white top layer.

Thursday Update

Wow this week has gone by so very quickly, I didn't really think I had gotten much done until I looked at  my pictures I had taken. I finished my skirt and the second scarf I was working on to send in Nicks care package. I helped two Young Women start purses and last night I started another scarf.
As you all know the Earthquakes in Haiti have left so many with nothing. I found this wonderful sight this week and wanted to share it with you it is craft hope. They are hosting an Etsy shop where all the proceeds from the sales go to Doctors Without Borders. You can shop or craft and donate.

Update
Now for the News you have all been waiting for! O.K. maybe not the news, but it is very exciting for me to tell you that...

I finished hand sewing the binding on my quilt Monday night!

Here it is after being washed and dried.

It's kind of wonky and poofy, but I like it any way! Maybe thats because I have spent so much time with it over the last few months.

Also finished the scarf for Nick and have started another along with a skirt.

This is a really simple skirt by Simplicity.  I found this fabric at Hancocks for $.89 a yard so if I mess this up I won't feel so bad. I will post more info Next week with the finished product unless I make a royal mess of it.

First Update of the New Year!

Happy New Year!
Can you believe it is a new decade already? I feel like last year just past by very quickly!

With that thought, I am still working on the same quilt. There is hope though that I will be finished quilting tonight!! Maybe I can even get the binding started!

I started crocheting a scarf for Nick. I am using a simple Single Crochet stitch with the M hook. I like the way it is turning out. I did have to pick a few rows out as they were a bit to wide.

I am using Lion Brand Vanna White for the Black and Patons in Dark Grey.
I do have a sewing goal for this year. I am going to sew something that I can wear. If it works out and I like it I may plan a few more items, if not well then back to straight line sewing for me!!!
