Thursday Update

Happy Cinco de Mayo
We ate fajhitas not really authentic Mexican but it's what we had ingredients for.
I am still busy with Girls Camp prep. This week I made these cute felt baby booties to donate to the fundraiser Auction.

Grey with silvery grey stitching and black accents.
White with pink stitching and darling felt flower accents.

Our back yard right after a nice rain. The garden is producing vegetables and herbs. We have already used the herbs and can't wait to use more.
Happy May!

Thursday Update

We have been busy these first few weeks of April.
Here is a peek at what we have been up to.
Ok, so there really are only strawberries for the fruit. It's a start.
It is really starting to look like an oven now. Every chance we get we are out side working on this project. We have a deadline, be finished before the combined activity this summer. There is still a lot to do but I am confident it will be ready.
We had a fantastic time on the New Disney Dream! Although we are not fond of Nassau we will not turn down a chance to cruise especially on a Disney ship! We drove down to Cape Canaveral and meet the Johnson's on the Dream. The Sun was hot and a few of us got burnt! The highlight for me was all of us biking on the Cay!

Last Update for March!

Yes, we often go a bit over board when doing upgrades!
No plants were harmed, just kindly moved.
No husbands were harmed either.

And baby and grandma watched from a safe distance.

Thursday Update

Happy spring!
I hope that you are starting to feel like it is spring where you live.
I have been enjoying being out side working in my new garden areas.
Outside
Tomato's & Peppers
Inside
Strawberries
There is still lot's more work to be done and the weather is just right to be spending time out doors.
We are planning on painting the lattice a redwood color and the rest will be white to match the existing trim. We reseeded the lawn and it is starting to sprout. We are expecting some rain early next week so that should give everything a good soaking.

I have finally finished my I-Spy quilt top and back after a miner adjustment.

Binding fabric
I am thinking about having it professionally quilted. Stay tuned to find out what I decide.

Thursday Update

Yellow squash blossoms right after rain!
Well here it is Thursday once again. A trip to the dentist for routine cleaning this morning ended up not being so routine after all. I have a large area of decay caused by a naughty late coming wisdom tooth and  it must be removed along with the decayed molar! I am still awaiting the final cost to me before making my appointment. Normally if your wisdom teeth have not come in before your fourth decade they stay put. Not so with me. Motrin (Surgeon recommended)may be my best friend for the next few weeks unless I can continue to grin and bear it. I will try my best!

Working on a new skirt, pattern from simplicity and fabric from Wal-Mart ($1.50yd)

Started collecting some fabrics to use for an I-spy quilt.
Bee's, gifts, tractors, cowboy's, dancing pigs, mittens and roosters. I need to find 3 more fabrics with interesting objects and then I will be ready to quilt along.

Thursday Update (Last one for June)

Well today is already the last Thursday this Month. In one week it will be July. So here is the progress update for my little garden.
Zucchini sprouts

Outside Tomatoes, Yellow squash, cilantro and chives.

I tried an overlock stitch using white and red thread. It was much quicker then the hand stitching.
Although not as dimensional I like the time saving element of doing it this way.

Have a wonderful week!

Thursday Update

It was so fun to get back in my sewing room after the week at girls camp.
A good friend found this cute tutorial at Skip To My Lou and sent it to me.
There is a zipper in it but she explains how to put it in very well. It does not take very much fabric at all so it will be fun mixing those cute small pieces in your stash!

I am working on my blanket stitch on a few squares of fleece.

This year we are having a lot of luck with Tomatoes so I am going to try a few other seeds and see what happens. The tomato here came from our bush outside. The seedlings behind it are also tomatoes, and the seedlings on the right are basal.

Fall Pictures from around our Home.

Just some random pictures to help us remember Fall in Summerville.

This was before I swept the driveway for the second time this Fall!

After

I planted this Mum last winter, it was in a pot in the house last fall. I never watered it during the summer, and it survived and has beautiful Yellow blooms to boot!

So the day after I swept the driveway the remnants of Hurricane Inez  made a huge mess again, this looks good compared to what it looks like today!

This was one of the wildflower seeds I planted in this pot last spring, it finally bloomed and I thought I better get a picture before it disappears. (iPhone picture)

Tuesday Update

Nothing new on the crafty side this week! It has been a week of moving and cleaning!! Darren also decided to remove some overgrown bushes out front and get our yard ready for fall. We still have a ways to go but it is a work in progress. My cherry tomatoes have started to ripen and are so yummy!!

I have to say I was really not liking the whole idea of pulling the whole bush out root and all with the truck!!!

These two are hard workers I tell ya!

Tuesday Update

This week I started and finished this cute envelope purse by Lion Brand

It was an easy pattern to follow, it didn't take too, too long. I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Light Blue.
I did figure out how to attach all of my quilt pieces to the frame and am working on it a little each day. I have 3 rows finished so far. Only 6 more to go!

My little garden continues to grow!
I have a single small cherry tomato now!!
