Thursday Update

I have finally done a bit of sewing!
As you know our Missionary is coming home.
That meant I needed to move all my sewing supplies out of his room.
Here is his bed with two new pillows sewn just for him;)

I didn't make the quilt, shame on me.
This was my first try at a neck roll pillow, I thought it was easy and plan to make more in the future.
Don't you just love making matching buttons!
I made a square pillow with one side textured and one side smooth, that way both sides are useful.
There are only 5 more sleeps until this bed will be unmade!

Thursday Update

It's not officially Spring yet but it is starting to feel like spring here in the Low Country!
I finally stopped in at a local thrift store last week and after looking around found the fabric hidden under some hanging sheets and table cloths. I scored 3 bags at 1.99 each. Here are some of the things I found inside.

These are a few of my favorites. I had to wash them and air them out, outside because whoever owned them stored them with moth balls!
I finished sewing my I-SPY quilt top and took a picture to show you but having trouble getting it and blogger to get along. Any way I thought it would be fun to embroider Bennett's name on his bug book.
For those who have been following the progress of the Brick Oven and outdoor project, here is a picture of the sealed cement counter top. It took hours of hard work but it is fantastic! Now the oven dome is being built. I need to take more pictures.

Thursday Update

This week I have been busy helping with our cutie Bennett, he has been fighting RSV and now has an ear infection on top of that.  I did do one quick project. I made my first  yo yo flower and I am not sure why I have never done this before. I used my Go cutter to cut the circles and that made it super easy to use the smallest scraps out of my scrap jar!

Hopefully I will have an I-spy quilt sandwich to share next week;)

Thursday Update

It sure has been unusually cold here this past week!!
I did not even want to go outside to get a picture so here is what I saw out my kitchen window. The pine tree was so full of ice that it was leaning against the house. I am happy to report that it is no longer leaning so far!

I did make it out to the mail to find this had arrived!
So fun to open it and find the Feb/March edition of Quilt and the beautiful Bliss quilt kit! Thank you Bonnie and Cotton Way. I am going to enjoy sewing this beautiful quilt as soon as I get brave enough to cut the beautiful fabric;)
Here is a look at the project I finished this week.
I like the size of this bag, not to sure if I love the color combo yet.

Thursday Update

I have some fun quilting news to share. I entered a giveaway in December for a beautiful quilt kit given away HERE. I love Bonnie and Camille's beautiful fabric and patterns. I love reading their blogs and admiring their work. So It was a very exciting New Years Morning when I read that I had won!
I have managed to get a bit of time in the sewing room this week. I am working on a new handbag for this new year. I will reveal more next week. I also have a fun Christmas gift certificate begging me to spend it;)
Stay warm and toasty!

Thursday Update

This one was a fun idea I found Here. These are fast and can be used to decorate your place settings for Thanksgiving. They are just right for finger puppet fun and they will fit in the small spaces.

Thursday Update

My 2nd I-SPY blocks all ready to go. I thought it would be so much more fun to pick from 400 squares so I joined another swap this month. I think I will wait until January before I start my actual quilt though.

This skirt was a pair of LL Bean Pants that I purchased from Goodwill a few years ago and never really used them much. I loved the pockets and thought maybe I should try a redo into a skirt. It was very simple I hope it fits.
My first attempt sewing with Minkee fabric. I love the silky smooth feel of this blanket. I hope Bennett does too.

Thursday Update

We have been blessed with wonderful warm fall weather here in Summerville! I have been doing a bit of creating but am spending more time outside.
So did anyone guess what the fabric rectangles from last week would become? Here is another peek.

Still thinking here is a clue.
These are just to cute I want to make them for all occasions!

I am thinking about giving one away next week!

These are for two very special little ones who have come along way in the past three months!
And a Welcome Home to Elder Tolman!

Thursday Update

It has cooled down a lot here in Summerville this week. We are trying to get used to it with out dragging out coats, we need to wait until it really gets cold or we will have a long winter! So about 3 weeks ago I was able to join  my first fabric swap!
Connie over at Green Apple Orchard is hosting this one. I am loving it so far and think I will join more in the future.
White is oh so pure.
Hmm I wonder what these rectangles are going to become!

Thursday Update

Happy Autumn or Fall!
Finished the school bags, they are going to be filled with school supplies and then go to children in places such as Haiti.

I have been making lots of these tissue paper flowers for our up coming Young Women in Excellence program next week. I will try to remember to take pictures to share next week. I learned how to make them from a friend who got the idea from the Martha Stewart web page.

Thursday Update

The sun is not staying out as long and that tends to make me blue. I think that is why we have so many pretty Fall colors that help warm the soul a little longer.
This is my June block, now I need to come up with one for August any ideas would be appreciated. It is our anniversary month and I am not sure how to tie that in.

Here are a few more I-Spy blocks still looking for a swap to join.

These are fun little bags to make. By using two fat quarters you get 4 of them. The pattern came from the Fall Issue of Quilts and More. They have a free pattern there under Fat Quarter Friendly and then Free Bag Patterns. I have plans for more of these cuties. I would love to know if this is something you might be putting on your sewing list for this fall!

I am sewing for a service project this month, we are helping make school bags and donating the supplies that go in them. At the end of the month we will get together to stuff the bags.  For more info go here.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Thursday Update

Wow can you believe we are really counting down the last days of Summer!
We are out of any danger from Earl, other then a few hours lost to surfing the big waves brought on by the afore mentioned Hurricane. I have been doing a few projects here and there between life's daily chores.
These are the fabrics that I plan to use with my I-Spy squares when I find another swap.

Here are 5 of my 10 fabrics cut and ready to swap.

These will become a pair of baby girl booties.
Meet my new scissors.(Target find)
I am loving all the cute fall projects that are popping up all over your blogs thanks for all the inspiration!

Thursday Update

A lot happened in my sewing room this past week!
Finished my skirt and like how it turned out!

Love these little felt booties they were so much fun to make! If you would like the pattern let me know in the comments and leave me your e-mail.
I had a pillow that was looking rather worn so I decided to take it apart and make a couple new covers out of some fabric I had in my stash.
I don't think I like sewing the cording on
 too much.
And I managed to get my July block pieces cut out. I think the block is very patriotic don't you?
Stay cool and sew lots, until next week;)
