Thursday Update

We have been busy these first few weeks of April.
Here is a peek at what we have been up to.
Ok, so there really are only strawberries for the fruit. It's a start.
It is really starting to look like an oven now. Every chance we get we are out side working on this project. We have a deadline, be finished before the combined activity this summer. There is still a lot to do but I am confident it will be ready.
We had a fantastic time on the New Disney Dream! Although we are not fond of Nassau we will not turn down a chance to cruise especially on a Disney ship! We drove down to Cape Canaveral and meet the Johnson's on the Dream. The Sun was hot and a few of us got burnt! The highlight for me was all of us biking on the Cay!

Last Update for March!

Yes, we often go a bit over board when doing upgrades!
No plants were harmed, just kindly moved.
No husbands were harmed either.

And baby and grandma watched from a safe distance.

Thursday Update

Happy spring!
I hope that you are starting to feel like it is spring where you live.
I have been enjoying being out side working in my new garden areas.
Outside
Tomato's & Peppers
Inside
Strawberries
There is still lot's more work to be done and the weather is just right to be spending time out doors.
We are planning on painting the lattice a redwood color and the rest will be white to match the existing trim. We reseeded the lawn and it is starting to sprout. We are expecting some rain early next week so that should give everything a good soaking.

I have finally finished my I-Spy quilt top and back after a miner adjustment.

I am thinking about having it professionally quilted. Stay tuned to find out what I decide.

Thursday Update (Happy St. Patricks Day)

Happy St. Patricks Day
A lot of crafting but not much sewing going on right now. I would show you what I have been up to except it's kind of suppose to be under wraps. It involves our up coming Stake Young Women Girls Camp.
There will be some paint and glue involved;) Our Theme is Treasure Seekers.

Here are a few pictures of the outdoor project. The weather has been fantastic for outside time this week!
Darren built two garden beds the one on the left will be for sun loving vegi's.  The one on the right will hopefully work out well for a herb garden. We may add another against the house.
I have some parsley and cilantro sprouting in the house and hope to transplant it soon. If anyone has any advice or gardening tips your comments are most welcome!

Thursday Update

It's not officially Spring yet but it is starting to feel like spring here in the Low Country!
I finally stopped in at a local thrift store last week and after looking around found the fabric hidden under some hanging sheets and table cloths. I scored 3 bags at 1.99 each. Here are some of the things I found inside.

These are a few of my favorites. I had to wash them and air them out, outside because whoever owned them stored them with moth balls!
I finished sewing my I-SPY quilt top and took a picture to show you but having trouble getting it and blogger to get along. Any way I thought it would be fun to embroider Bennett's name on his bug book.
For those who have been following the progress of the Brick Oven and outdoor project, here is a picture of the sealed cement counter top. It took hours of hard work but it is fantastic! Now the oven dome is being built. I need to take more pictures.

Thursday Update

This week I have been busy helping with our cutie Bennett, he has been fighting RSV and now has an ear infection on top of that.  I did do one quick project. I made my first  yo yo flower and I am not sure why I have never done this before. I used my Go cutter to cut the circles and that made it super easy to use the smallest scraps out of my scrap jar!

Hopefully I will have an I-spy quilt sandwich to share next week;)

Thursday Update (in Red)

Today it Mostly about Red because it's February after all and Valentine's Day is just around the corner so here it goes.

 Heart pops and dipped Oreos!
Some beautiful Moda Essential Dots in Red and White

This will become the back of my I-Spy quilt.
Only the bottom and side sashing left to sew on and the top will be finished!

All right I know this is not Red, but it is to go with a shade of red;)
I entered a giveaway over here and won a package of Bella Solids from this great Etsy shop. I needed another to go with it. Thanks Liz, Becca and Peg;)
These will be staring in a future Triangle Madness inspired quilt!
Wishing all of you a very sweet Valentine Day.

Thursday Update

Happy February!
Only a month and a few days of winter left!!
This week I did not do any sewing. I chose instead to work on a few other things.
Have been enjoying this little guy who is now 2 months Old.
The following pictures are of our Project that we started in the fall and I have failed to share to this point.
We had a beautiful day yesterday and so I took a few pictures.
Concrete countertops for our outdoor Kitchen underway. ( Design by Darren)
New walkway (Work by: Darren, Ben, Laurel, Jacquie, Patrick & Ryan)
Still a construction zone for a bit longer.
 The walkway lighted wall.
We are looking forward to spring and all the green that will be in the background;)
Hope you have a wonderful week!

Thursday Update (Last one for January)

I have to say I am very glad to see January go. It is not in my favorite season and when it is over that means we are getting closer to my one of my favorite seasons. Really all of the seasons except WINTER are fantastic! Winter does have it's qualities but cold is not one of them!
All right enough about that and on to what has been happening in the sewing room this week.
I finished cutting and arranging all those I-spy squares into rows.
Got these two wonderful Cotton Way Patterns in the mail.

All rows sewn and ready to be sewn together, side and bottom sashing rows finished and ready to go!
First three rows finished. I am thinking that I would like a red border to go around the entire quilt because my binding is a colorful stripe fabric.

Thursday Update

This week I have been working with those I-Spy squares that I received last year when I joined two swaps.
I decided to use all boy type blocks and make this one for Bennett. The quilt uses 88 I-Spy and is a disappearing 9 patch. This is the first time I have made one and so far it is fairly simple.

the white will become the borders and the paw prints will become the placement squares. I have a blue backing fabric and a striped fabric for the binding.

Thursday Update

It sure has been unusually cold here this past week!!
I did not even want to go outside to get a picture so here is what I saw out my kitchen window. The pine tree was so full of ice that it was leaning against the house. I am happy to report that it is no longer leaning so far!

I did make it out to the mail to find this had arrived!
So fun to open it and find the Feb/March edition of Quilt and the beautiful Bliss quilt kit! Thank you Bonnie and Cotton Way. I am going to enjoy sewing this beautiful quilt as soon as I get brave enough to cut the beautiful fabric;)
Here is a look at the project I finished this week.
I like the size of this bag, not to sure if I love the color combo yet.

Thursday Update

I have some fun quilting news to share. I entered a giveaway in December for a beautiful quilt kit given away HERE. I love Bonnie and Camille's beautiful fabric and patterns. I love reading their blogs and admiring their work. So It was a very exciting New Years Morning when I read that I had won!
I have managed to get a bit of time in the sewing room this week. I am working on a new handbag for this new year. I will reveal more next week. I also have a fun Christmas gift certificate begging me to spend it;)
Stay warm and toasty!

Happy New Year!

Wow 2011, really I could not even imagine this year back in high school. Now that only seems like a few years ago. We did not even try to stay up until the ball dropped this year. I know boring huh. We did play two games of Catan and Ben won both. There were lots of fireworks going off in the neighborhood.
A very Happy Birthday to my Grandma S. and my Niece Tiana, both share birthdays on this first day of the New Year!
