Young Women in Excellence 2010

Tonight we had our Young Women in Excellence program. The girls shared one of their projects that they did from their Personal Progress this year. They were all awesome. I was asked to speak on how completing the Personal Progress requirements as an adult/leader has blessed me. I truly LOVE the Young Women's program and the opportunities it gives each of the girls!

Girls Camp 2010!

I was asked to take a group picture at girls camp this year and was going to spend the first Night. Turns out that I ended up volunteering too stay the entire week. I know crazy huh! I really did enjoy being with the beautiful and sweet girls from our stake (Charleston, SC) They were energetic and happy everyday, even though the camp pool was rarely available to cool down in ( that is another story to long to tell).

"Once Upon a Time" New Beginnings 2010

This year the General Young Women's Presidency under the direction of the first Presidency made some changes to the Young Women Personal Progress Program. We decided to make that the main focus of our New Beginnings program to get the girls off to a great start this year.
Our Theme was " Once Upon a Time" and we decorated in pink with polka dots. The girls did a skit that introduced the 8 values and it of course started with "Once Upon a Time" We had a brunch and invited the Mom's. They were also invited to earn the YW's Personal Progress Medallion along with their daughters.

New Beginnings projects

I have been working on some projects for our up coming Young Women's New Beginnings.
We are going to be holding a Brunch this year. I volunteered to make the invitations and a calender for the year. I used one of Erika's wonderful free digital kits over at Steadfast and immovable to create the backgrounds of the calenders.

I used the Stampin' Up eyelet punch to decorate the lower edge of the Cranberry cardstock.
I also used a line art flower stamp to soften the black and white top layer.

The Vanilla Theory

Sister Stubbs told the story of an old woman who always had Vanilla ice cream. One day she was asked why she didn't like any other ice cream, and had she ever even tried any other flavors. She replied " No never why would I do that when I love Vanilla".

The point she made was how can you know if you really love Vanilla if it is the only flavor you have ever tasted.  She compared that to exclusive dating while in high school and told the girls this is why we encourage them to go on group dates until they are out of high school.

Sister Branham and the girls sampling the different flavors.

It got a little crazy when they were making their sundays with good ole Vanilla.

I did sample the Ben & Jerry's Cheesecake, that could be dangerous to have around!

My day at Charleston Stake Girls Camp 2009

This year girls camp was held at The Peoples Barn in Sumerton, SC! I drove up on Wed. morning and helped transport our girls to Santee State Park. They hiked and then had free time to play in the lake.

Self Defense

The Young Women learned some great lessons, on how to take care of themselves if they should get into physical trouble. I won't reveal all the things Cooper told them, but if you want to call me I would be happy to tell you some of the vital things he taught.

The young women were busy tonight!

Tonight the girls going on TREK made Apron's to wear. For some it was their first sewing experience. Some wonderful Sisters volunteered their sewing machines and time to help the girls.

The Bee's worked a little on their upcoming combined activity. For the remainder we made these friendship bracelets. The following link is for a wonderful tutorial so that you can make these too!

YW Pedicure night

The Bee's and Maid's did pedicures while the Laurel's went Ice Skating. We had a blast getting to know the girls and they each other while we stunk up the YW room with Nail Polish.
